Fortum was top recipient of renewable energy support in May

Companies of the Finnish Fortum group in Estonia received the biggest amount of renewable energy support here in May, or 1.53 million out of the total 3.78 million euros disbursed by the transmission system operator Elering during the month.
Elering paid out a total of 3.46 million euros in renewable energy subsidies and 311,237 euros in support for high efficiency cogeneration in May. In April generating companies were paid respectively 4.36 million and 384,515 euros, the transmission system operator said.
The subsidies paid to renewable energy companies in the first five months of the year totaled 18.62 million euros while high efficiency cogeneration support was 2.0 million euros, making for 20.62 million euros combined.
Payouts to companies of the Fortum group during the five months totaled 7.6 million euros, of which Anne Soojus AS received 733,581 euros and Fortum Eesti AS 797 556 euros in renewable energy subsidy in May.
The May subsidies to wind farms owned by Nelja Energia totaled 774,276, down from 1.23 million euros in April. Subsidies for Nelja Energia in the five-month period amounted to 4.4 million euros.
The state-owned Eesti Energia was the third biggest recipient of subsidies in May with a renewable energy subsidy of 53,702 euros.
