Eesti Elekter, a company owned by wind energy businessmen Andres and Oleg Sonajalg, has contested the decision of the Estonian state forest management center RMK to give the substation plot on the territory of the planned Tootsi wind farm to the transmission system operator Elering because it suspects that it would not be able to join it in the future, while Elering says that the company is allowed to join in the future.

In the appeal filed with the Tallinn administrative court, Eesti Elekter is asking the court to declare void the RMK decree, according to which Elering was given the right to use the substation plot with an aim to build a substation on it and own it. The company also asks the court to declared void the agreement entered into by RMK and Elering, Eesti Elekter said.

Sonajalgs have contested the decision of RMK because in their opinion it would not be possible for the winner of the Tootsi wind farm tender to join the power grid managed by Elering after that.

Chief of communication at Elering, Ain Koster, told BNS that Elering is to build a substation near Tootsi in accordance with the contract entered into with a client and Elering will allow all interested parties to join.

The Tootsi wind farm property is situated on 160 hectares in the territory of the Vandra rural municipality in Parnu County. It consists of 40 cadastral units, 38 of which have been designated for wind turbines and two for wind measuring towers.
