According to Enefit Green, the renewable energy subsidiary of state-owned energy group Eesti Energia, half of Estonia’s energy production will be from renewable sources by 2030, most of it from wind energy.

“Renewable energy is going through fast and revolutionary developments in Estonia at present, like those that took place in our banking at the beginning of the current century,” Innar Kaasik, member of the management board of Enefit Green responsible for the field of production, said at an energy conference held in Narva, adding that the total production of renewable energy is already reaching 524 gigawatt-hours.

Kaasik estimated that by 2030, half of Estonia’s energy balance could be provided by renewable energy, the lion’s share of which is made up of wind energy, Estonian Association of Electrical Enterprises (EETEL) organizing the conference said.
